Can I change my username/login name at a later time?
No. Please choose your username carefully. It should be representative of yourself or

General
FTP is what we currently use to transfer files, why is this better?
1) Secure
transfers between you browser and our server using 128-bit SSL encryption. Same as used in banking transactions.
2) No
special software required only need a web-browser.
3) Professional
management of the backend-servers.
4) Servers
located in secure facility, behind locked cabinets with redundant Internet
drops and backup-power.
5) Zippy
transfer rates
6) Daily,
weekly or monthly reports of account activity emailed to you
7) No common
sharing of folders like FTP. PixtaSynapse uses an email-like inbox where you
view files sent to you.
8) Tight
integration between email and file transfer – email automatically sent to you
when a file is uploaded, or downloaded, from your account.
9) Virus
checking of each file sent to your account.
10) You can
authorize and give others in your company access privileges to your account.
11) Ability
to un-delete files
12) An RSS
feed for upload notifications from your account.
13) And much
more…
Do I need special software, like FTP to use this service?
Absolutely not. PixtaSynapse has been designed for
simplicity and ease of use, all you need is a web browser like Internet
Explorer, Firefox or Safari. Once your
account is setup, just login to your account via a web browser and begin sending
files.
Which browsers are supported?
PixtaSynapse has been tested to work in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 &
6, Firefox and Safari. Other browsers may work, but these three are guaranteed.
Is this a file hosting service?
No. Our mission is to get files from
point-A to point-B as quickly and easily as possible. We understand that sometimes customers need
to park files. No problem. This is why we offer free storage based on
plan level. You can also automatically
delete files after download if you prefer.
What type of files
can I send (video, graphics, audio)?
You can send any type of file using PixtaSynapse. PixtaSynapse can read most graphical formats
and displays a thumbnail icon in your inbox to make is easy to identify.
Sending files
If I send someone a
file do they need a PixtaSynapse account to receive it?
Nope. They are
notified by email immediately after the file is received by the PixtaSynapse
system that your file is waiting for them to download. By simply clicking on the link in the email,
they will be able to download the file.
How do I send a file
to my account?
Once you’ve established an account, using your web-browser,
log-into your account and click the upload tab. You can send one or several files, simultaneously, to your account or
directly to a recipient.
Where do I direct my
customers to send me files?
If your account name is: bigsigns using your web
browser, you can send your customers to:
https://files.pixta.com/bigsigns
Once the file is uploaded to your account PixtaSynapse
sends you a notification the file has arrived then begins a virus check on the
file.
Receiving Files
I received an email
that a file has been sent to me how do I retrieve it?
There are a couple of ways:
1) Click
on the link that was provided in the email sent to you.
2) Go to
your account’s inbox and click on the Preview or Name to download.
Account management
There are several
people in my office I want to have downloading files for our company. Can I do this without giving them my credentials?
Yes. Go to
‘Account Settings->Users’ and set up as many users for the account as you need. Here you can easily assign them permissions
to download, delete files, change account settings etc.
If you account name is ‘bigsigns’ a user, sarah, for you account then signs on as:
sarah@bigsigns
I just want to send someone a file. Do I have to create an account for them?
No. You can create a 'Workmate', by going to 'Account Settings -> Users' and
fill in their name and email address.
When you create a workmate, you can give them permission to download a file
by going to your Inbox and clicking on the ' -- Send to' link (in green) below the
filename. You can let them download the file from 1 to 10 times, or as
many times as they want. They will then get an email with a download link
to the file. When you assign the file, you can choose to be sent email
when they download it, or to have the file automatically deleted after they
download it.
What's the difference between a 'Workmate' and a 'User' of my account?
The terms can be a little confusing. Workmates are people who you can
let download your files. They do not have to have a PixtaSynapse account
of their own. Users are people who can log into your account, optionally
with less privileges than the accountholder.
Can I view the files
that have been transferred to and from my account?
Yes. Go to ‘File
Manager->Account Activity’ and select the range of dates you would like to
see the activity of your account.
Can I automatically
delete files once they have been downloaded?
Yes. Go to ‘Account Settings -> Password/Profile’.
At the bottom of the page, you may need to scroll to the
bottom, you will see the options:
Never - I'll delete them myself
1 day
7 week
2 weeks
3 weeks
1 month
To change when a file is deleted.
Oooops, I accidentally deleted a file - can you help me
retrieve it?
Absolutely! PixtaSynapse uses a Recycle bin. Files are not immediately deleted by our
system but rather move to the Recycle bin. Here they age for one week before they are then permanently removed from
the system. Customers are not charged
for items in the Recycle Bin.
To un-delete a file:
Go to ‘File Manager -> Recycle Bin’
Click on the undelete check-box for the file you wish to
un-delete.
Once you have selected the files you want to undelete click
on the restore button.
Your files will be transferred back into your inbox.
I'm having trouble with my RSS feed - it's asking me for a name and password.
Your RSS feed shows you the files that have been sent to your account, and lets you
download them, so you won't want the whole world to be able to subscribe to it.
When your feed reader asks for authorization, enter your PixtaSynapse account name and
password. The connection is SSL-secured, so no one will be able to snoop on it as it goes
across the network.
